Midweek Message from the Archive
Word of God, Speak (2)
Sometimes I feel like I’ve hit Repeat on my iPod because I say the same thing over and over again. My response to someone sharing their trials in life is usually, “Get into God’s Word; Your answer is there.” This is one of those weeks that His Spirit has led me to speak to you about God’s Word; I can’t seem to get off the subject but I’m OK with that.
I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith. Philippians 3:1 NLT
1 Tim. 2:14-16 tells us to “keep reminding God’s people of these things …” You know, repetition is the key to learning; God designed us that way. I want to be someone in your life who plants the Word of God like seed in a garden. When you need help, God, through His Word, will be there for you bringing comfort, wisdom, and insight.
As he was speaking, a woman in the crowd called out, “God bless your mother—the womb from which you came, and the breasts that nursed you!” Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.
Luke 11:27-28 NLT
You are blessed every time you read His Word; you may not realize it at the moment but it’s true. It would be easy to forget that second part though: the action. One translation reads ‘keep it’, another, ‘puts it into practice’, and yet another says ‘obey it’. That pretty much sums it up, don’t you think? This week hear God’s Word to you as you read and reflect on an area of need. Allow God to breathe life and blessing into you with His wisdom, guidance, strength, and help. Whatever you need, He is able and loved you enough to inspire men of God write down His words for your benefit.
It can’t get any easier to study scripture with our amazing technology. Simply google ‘Bible Passages that speak about …’ For example: anger, fear, lust, pride, money … you name it. Look up the passages that speak to your heart and allow the Spirit to give you strength to overcome anything; that’s how you put it into practice.
A good website to check out is www.biblehub.com. It gives you an opportunity to study a passage using a variety of sources that you probably don’t have laying around the house. Spend some time there, read the commentaries, check the concordance, and study God’s Word. You won’t be sorry you did.
Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 NLT
